The Killers!

The Killers

Wednesday, I went to The Killers concert at The Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit…first concert I’ve been to in a long time. I’d never been inside The Fox, so that was very interesting. The theatre itself is very old, and Mike Ilitch did a great job restoring it. The inside is extremely ornate, with wood carvings and gilded decoration throughout.

We actually sat underneath the balcony, so we couldn’t see the ceiling during the concert. But, between the opening act and The Killers show, we wandered up to the front and looked around. Amazing artwork on the ceiling and the alcoves on either side of the stage had interesting statuary. They actually offer tours, but only for 15 people or more (at $6/person).

As for the concert itself, The Killers put on a pretty good show. It’s definitely not one of the best shows I’ve been to, but good. I think the band needed to interact more with the crowd during the performance, and maybe they could be a little more animated. The effects were interesting, with lots of sparkling confetti and great light effects. The Freep has a good review of the show, and I definitely agree with the author’s comments.
