Winblows XPeee
I forgot to write about this earlier today, but here we go.
I arrrive at the office around 8:30, and it’s a normal day to being with. The drive in is fine, I’m groggy and tired, but overall in a decent mood. I get to my desk, and pull out the laptop.
Now, this is not a regular laptop, such as one you would obtain at Best Buy or Circuit City. This is an HP nc6000, a business class machine. I hit the power switch, and I get the hard drive encryption screen, no problem. Type in my password, and turn to get some more things out of my bag.
When I turn back around, the screen reads as follows:
“Read/Write Error. Please press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart”
AWESOME!!!
I love how these systems can go from working fine to blowing up in a couple days. I place most the blame on XPeee, but that’s just because I don’t like it :-) The error is mostly because of a hardware failure.
I get the runaround through tech support, and eventually the computer starts working again. I’m running a defrag and diagnostic on it later tonight, so we’ll see if that turns up anything. Hopefully I don’t have to do anything more. I have a feeling that I’m going to end up with a crashed hard drive in a couple months…normally these symptoms are indicative of that.
