i don’t like circuit city

Last night and tonight, I visited two different Best Buy locations, and found that neither had in stock the camera battery that I wanted. So, I was forced to go to Circuit City. While they did have the battery I wanted, I still don’t like shopping there…

One item of discontent is the way you have to check out. There aren’t clearly marked registers, where a cashier is waiting to help you purchase a product. Noooo…you have to run down a sales associate and deal with the transaction somewhere on the sales floor.

The other dislike I have about the store is the massive size of the register reciept. The thing is like 4 inches wide and a foot and a half long! I mean seriously, can’t you guys figure out a way to make a smaller reciept?

In fact, call me stupid or stubborn, but that is the one reason I shop at Best Buy whenever I can. I hate having to deal with this massive amount of paper that qualifies as my sales reciept when I get something from circuit city.

Ok, end pointless rant.

smiley stapler

Have you ever noticed that when you look at a stapler, it has a human face on it? If you look at the strike plate below where the staple comes out, you can see what looks like a set of eyes, a nose, and a mouth! At least, you can on my stapler…

hard typing

i’ve just come to the conclusion that “yadda” is a hard word to type when you want to type fast…

yadda yadda yadda

Winblows XPeee

I forgot to write about this earlier today, but here we go.

I arrrive at the office around 8:30, and it’s a normal day to being with. The drive in is fine, I’m groggy and tired, but overall in a decent mood. I get to my desk, and pull out the laptop.

Now, this is not a regular laptop, such as one you would obtain at Best Buy or Circuit City. This is an HP nc6000, a business class machine. I hit the power switch, and I get the hard drive encryption screen, no problem. Type in my password, and turn to get some more things out of my bag.

When I turn back around, the screen reads as follows:

“Read/Write Error. Please press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart”

AWESOME!!!

I love how these systems can go from working fine to blowing up in a couple days. I place most the blame on XPeee, but that’s just because I don’t like it :-) The error is mostly because of a hardware failure.

I get the runaround through tech support, and eventually the computer starts working again. I’m running a defrag and diagnostic on it later tonight, so we’ll see if that turns up anything. Hopefully I don’t have to do anything more. I have a feeling that I’m going to end up with a crashed hard drive in a couple months…normally these symptoms are indicative of that.

many things

I just got back from lunch, and the partner for the engagement was there with us. Overall a good guy, and easy to talk to. It was funny because he just moved to a new house, and getting all this new “stuff” to furnish it with and updating some rooms…

All this discussion made me think about my dad and mom, and how I was fortunate enough to have them. They taught me a lot about house maintenance, building things, and just taking care of a house. I don’t have one yet, but when I do I won’t have to worry about paying someone to do a bunch of small stuff. Knowing that makes the day go by a little quicker…

shocking

This is just shocking, I tell you…

Who would have thought that by having a diet that is low in fat, you could avoid gaining weight? I mean, this is astounding. I’m ecstatic this nation’s resources are being spent to conduct such groundbreaking research…

help ‘em out

And the latest political joke on the net is…

HelpThemLeave.com

I’d just like to say this is quite humorous…and I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner.

free i-pod

I know that this sounds like a scam, but I figure what the heck. Anyone who wants to try and help me get a free I-Pod go to the following link…

surviving

Well, I’m in North Carolina. I really like the area down here, and I think it’d be a great place to live. I’m in Statesville, about an hour north of Charlotte. I think a move to Charlotte may be in order for my next job. I’m going to take a vacation down here sometime to look at it. Nashville, TN is also a spot I’d like to look into.

I’m really frustrated with my job right now. I’m not doing the things I like to do, and that means helping people develop a solution. I’m handed a work program, and told to just get it done. I think the bottom line is that I’m not doing what I want to do, which is develop solutions for a client’s problems.

I don’t know…I’ve read a lot from different blogs on how people lose their jobs over saying things on their personal website, so I’m holding back a little bit. It’s frustrating, because I don’t know that my employer even knows I have this site. Not that many people do….

Outside of that, my buddy Shaun and I are heading to a party on Friday night. I just e-mailed Pat and Chris to see if they want to join us, but they probably won’t. If the party is no good, we’ll probably end up going to the bars in Royal Oak.

Ok, I’m done for now….heading back to the hotel soon.

new camera

I just ordered a digital camera. Essentially, I went overboard and ordered a Nikon Coolpix 5700. I did a lot of research, and this camera seems to be the best value for my money. It’s expensive, but I will be able to use it for a while since it’s got some advanced features. Oh…and I didn’t pay MSRP for it. shopper.cnet.com is a wonderful thing….

I’m really looking forward to getting the camera and learning more about photography. I probably bought too nice of a camera to learn on, but I’ll learn as I go. I’ll be revamping the site this winter, with the upgrade to WordPress and such. I know, I know…I’ve been talking about that for nearly a year, but once the CPA exam and busy season at work is finished I’ll be able to work on it. I think there will be a photoblog and definately a new design.

On top of spending a bunch of money on that, I also bought a plane ticket to go up north to Marquette, MI with my dad over Thanksgiving. I haven’t been up there in something like 5 or 6 years, so it should be a good time. Don’t know how much hunting I’ll do, if any, but getting away for some time to read and relax will be enjoyable. Maybe I can use the new camera to get some cool pictures….
