the tv is on

I’m sitting here at the Comfort Inn in Jackson, MI. I just got done working some practice problems for the CPA Exam. Man, I hope the material I just went over is not tested extensively. It deals with a lot of economic concepts, most of which I understand just fine. But this exchange rate risk stuff is just really hard to get my mind around. It frustrates me to no end…

It looks like I’ll be going to New Jersey next week. I’ll only be about 14 miles from Manhattan, so that might warrant a trip into the big city. Not real sure how that will work out since I have a lot of studying to do, but we’ll see. I’m going with a couple other people, so they might be able to con me into going.

Brianna and Pam (Lisa’s friends) are going to be joining me for the Downtown Hoedown next weekend, so that should be a good time. We might even try to squeeze in a Tigers game for good measure. Lisa mentioned something about her sister Melanie wanting to join in the festivities, but no word on that yet.

Lisa made it just fine to Europe, and she sent me an e-mail today. I was very surprised and happy when I saw that pop up in my inbox, since I thought I wouldn’t hear from her for at least a week. Unfortunately, she used up nearly all of her 800 minute phone card. It’s down to 120 minutes, and all she did was call her mom to say she got there safely. Talk about ridiculous surcharges. I might be able to work something out so I can call her cheaper, but we’ll see.

It’s about time to head for bed. The partner on this engagement from my office is going to be here tomorrow bright and early, so I think I’m going to try and get there before him.

Oh, and if anyone wants to join the fun for the Downtown Hoedown, just let me know.

it’s a calendar

off i go again on non-related entry titles…

Lisa leaves tomorrow for Europe. I spent Saturday and Sunday nights with her in Kalamazoo, and I could have gone back there tonight. However, I am both mentally and physically drained from those two days, and I probably wouldn’t have had any fun. Which translates into a grouchy joe, which equals a bad situation with Lisa. So, I used some common sense and came back to Southgate…

It was kinda hard leaving her this morning. I won’t see her for a month, and when the time came to say “See you when you get back,” it really hit me. I just didn’t want to let go of her, and kept hugging her. We had a great time on Saturday and Sunday, so it was good to leave it like we did. Both very happy and content with each other, but sort of sad to leave.

I really wish I had done a study abroad tour when I was in school. If there is one piece of advice I can offer to any college student, it is that you should go on study abroad. You’ll never get the time later in life to spend a full month or four months in a country overseas, partying and just enjoying life. Take it while you can.

Other than that, life is pretty normal. I haven’t studied since class on Saturday, which isn’t good. However, I’m spending Tuesday and Wednesday night in Jackson since travel time has increased due to construction. I’ll be able to get a lot of studying done those nights.

Well, time for bed. Have to get up at a decent hour and finish packing, then get to work. night….
